Great Britain came into the 2003 IIHF In-Line Hockey World Championship as the second seed in Group C. Three games later, that's where Great Britain still stands.
Team Hungary dropped its second game of the 2003 IIHF In-Line Hockey World Championship after losing to Great Britain, 6-2, in the final game of the preliminary round. Great Britain closes the preliminary round in second place, while Hugary goes from being the top seed in the group to finishing in third place.
Great Britian’s John Dolan set the tone early, scoring two goals in the first three minutes of the game. Dolan’s teammate, Andrew Sillitoe made it a 3-0 Great Britain advantage at the 6:02 mark. Hungary scored its first goal of the game with just over two minutes left in the first half when Zsolt Halmosi scored on the power play.
Dolan restored his team’s three-goal lead in the opening moments of the third period and earned the hat trick with an even-strength effort. The teams exchanges goals midway through the fourth period and Great Britain put the finishing touches on the 6-2 win with an unassisted goal from Paul Watson with 25 seconds left in the game.
Both Great Britain and Hungary will have the day off tomorrow and will have their opponents determined by the remaining games today.
