After a strong first game, South Africa had its hands full against Great Britain in its second game of the In-Line Hockey World Championship.
Great Britain earned its first win at the 2003 IIHF In-Line Hockey World Championship after dominating South Africa in a 16-1 win.
Great Britain nearly had the shutout in the books when South Africa’s Blake Attwell scored at the 40:26 mark of the fourth period. Other than the one South Africa goal, Great Britain was nearly flawless in its second game of the championship.
Of the 18 Great Britain players that dressed for the game, 15 had at least one point in the win. Paving the way for Great Britain was John Dolan who had five points on two goals and three assists. Nick Crawley, Andrew Sillitoe and Simon Mehir each registered four points in the win.
Great Britain held only a 4-0 lead at the half, but came out strong in the second half, netting seven goals in the third period and five in the fourth.
Great Britain (1-1) will close out the preliminary round tomorrow at 7 p.m. against Hungary while South Africa (0-2) will seek its first win of the tournament tomorrow against Brazil.
