Sweden Blanks Austria, 3-0
Sweden's goaltending is still strong this year.
Sweden won last year’s In-Line Hockey World Championship backed by strong goaltending and picked up right where it left off in it’s opening game of the 2003 IIHF In-Line Hockey World Championship with a 3-0 win over Austria.
Johan Olson scored two goals in the game, which came in the first and fourth periods. Sweden’s Johan Larson scored the only other goal of the game 1:25 into the second period. Both teams had several power-play opportunities, but only the Olson’s first goal came with the extra man. The shutout was the first shutout of this year’s World Championship.
Sweden (1-0) will take on Team USA (1-0) tomorrow evening at 20:00. Austria (0-1) will face the Czech Republic (0-1).
