PLAYING MODE
The preliminary round will be played in 4 groups (A-D) with 4 teams each. The two last-placed teams of the groups A and B and the two first-placed teams of the groups C and D play for the 4th place in group A and B to participate in the Play-Offs of Pool A. The losers of the games between 4th A and 1st C, 4th B and 1st D play as first place in group C and D to participate in the Play-Offs of Pool B. For further information please see under play-offs.
The ranking of the groups is based according to the result of the last World Championship or the activity of the respective countries in the IIHF In-Line Hockey Program. On position 16 you will find the African Qualifier South Africa (RSA). Australia, one of our most loyal participants in the in-line hockey program has returned on spot 15.
The games are played in two cities Nürnberg and Amberg. The World Championship Pool B will primarily be played in Amberg. The A pool World Championship will primarily be played in Nürnberg. All three arenas will be provided with ATAK Sport Court floors, the official IIHF Championship Floor. The Play-Off games will be played with a 5 minute sudden victory overtime and penalty shot shoot-out and the Final games will be played with 12-minute sudden victory overtime and if necessary also a penalty shot competition. Further details with respect to the organization will be forwarded to you in due course.
*Remark: All semifinal and ranking games will be played according to the ranking after the preliminary round and the ranking from the World Championship 2002. All games of Team Germany in the Play Off Round will be played at 20.00 h.
